On last Wednesday, Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas said that in the “waste to wealth” program, the biofuel has the unique business potential of about Rs. 1 lakh crore in India alone.
For the required promotion of the use of biofuels, Pradhan put the impetus on the research and also added that there are several challenges and problems in encouraging the use of advanced biofuels on the ground level.
Pradhan expressed this view while speaking at the “EU-India Conference on Advanced Biofuels”, organized by the European Commission’s Directorate-General and Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. He also put the stress on the industrialization of biofuels.
It was also informed and discussed in the conference that India is among the band of nations, with lesser pollution; therefore, it is quite important to make the energy sector almost de-carbonized and the ministry has taken some noteworthy measures to achieve the target.
