Change of behavioral pattern is the challenge: Dharmendra Pradhan

Union Minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Dharmendra Pradhan has expressed his satisfaction over the success of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Scheme (PMUY) and said: “The challenge has been changing the behavioral pattern rather than implementing the scheme itself.”

This well-structured program is now almost stabilized; while 80% of the consumers are coming to the refill, the average refill rate is 4.07 annually, which is regarded as a very positive sign and establishes the success of the program.

The most encouraging fact is; even though there are scopes of alternative fuel, people are now coming for the refill of cooking gas, which proves that Indian people more keen to switch over from old fuel habit to cooking gas.

Over and above, this is definitely a behavioral issue, where people are inclined to kitchen gas, while there are other options of alternative fuels available in the vicinity and obviously at the cheaper price or free.
