Egypt Takes Giant Leap Towards Energy Sovereignty

It is expected that in December, the first flow of gas will come out from the all-important offshore gas field Zohr, located at 200 km north of the Port Said. In October, Tarek El Molla, the petroleum and mineral resources minister, has informed that the development of field has been 91 percent complete. According to forecast, the initial stage production will be around 500m-1bn cu feet per day (cfpd), with a projected output that could rise to 2.7bn in 2019, while all of the seven fields will be in operational stage.
