GAIL started construction on Bengal stretch of “Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga” project

GAIL (India) Ltd., the largest state-owned gas utility company in India, has started the construction work of pipeline in Durgapur, West Bengal for supplying gas to Matrix Fertilizers.

This particular project is a part of the much-hyped “Pradhan Mantri Urja Ganga” pipeline project, which is also known as, Jagdishpur-Haldia & Bokaro-Dhamra Natural Gas Pipeline (JHBDPL), which is now being executed on a priority basis.

It can be noted that this pipeline will pass through eight districts of West Bengal i.e. Bankura, Burdwan, East Medinipur, Hooghly, Howrah and North 24 Parganas; the total distance is 550 Km and the approved cost for the project is Rs. 2700 crore.

Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, inaugurated the prestigious JHBDPL pipeline project in July 2015 and the work is going on almost in a war footing manner. This pipeline project will travel through five states, such as; Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and West Bengal.
