A CAG report has stated that Maharashtra that 50 wind energy projects were commissioned in Maharashtra between April 2015 and March 2015. Though these projects generated 68.42 MUs and the energy generated was fed into the MSEDCL grid, it did not execute energy purchase agreements with these 50 generators mainly due to high tariff.
However, the CAG also pointed out that MSEDCL paid higher tariff worth Rs 85.06 crores. “MSEDCL paid a higher tariff rate in respect of 100.41 crore units of wind energy purchased during April 2010 to March 2015, although the required certificates were neither produced by the generators not demanded by MSEDCL. This resulted in excess payment worth ts 85.06 crores,” the CAG report said.
