IOC will provide jobs to women ex-convicts and others

On Saturday, the Telangana Prisons Department said that they have entered into the agreement with state-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) to engage women under-trials and convicts at various petrol pumps, throughout the state.

Not only women ex-convicts, who have already served their respective jail terms, and other women prisoners, who are now on bail; this initiative will also aspire to cover needy and distressed women with employment.

Director General of Prisons and Correctional Services of Telangana, V. K. Singh said, “We request all women ex-convicts and UT (under-trial) prisoners, single women or widows or destitute women to approach the jail superintendents in their districts for employment at petrol pumps in the same district for salary of Rs 9,000 and above.”

According to Mr. Singh; the Prison Department of Telangana is having the aim to provide dignified employment to a considerable number of 2000 women ex-convicts and under-trials, which will be helpful in curbing the trend of crime in the community of poor women.
