Oil PSUs to build up the massive gas field in Mozambique

ONGC Videsh, the wholly-owned subsidiary of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), and the Oil India Ltd, in association with other partners has got the required permission from the Government of Mozambique for the development of a massive gas field in the inexhaustible Rovuma Area – 1, off the cost of this African Nation.

It is expected that this particular field has the deposit of about 75 trillion recoverable gas, which is having the capacity of more than the total gas production capacity in India.

The Oil India Ltd. in a recent press statement said the appropriate authority in the Mozambique government has “accorded approval for the development plan for the Golfinho-Atum natural gas field in the Area-1 block located in the Rovuma offshore basin of Mozambique.”

While the partners in this block are considering the plan to turn the explored gas into Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) for the export purpose; an initial volume of approximately 100 million cubic feet of explored natural gas will be sold in Mozambique.
